Thanksgiving Wine 101

Thanksgiving! Probably my favorite holiday. What's better than a holiday filled with family, friends, food, drink and pig skin. As most of you know, I love my wine, good wine, not expensive wine, but good wine! My favorite wine for the holidays is a light, young red wine Beaujolais. Made with essentially with the Gamay grape and an old white varietal Gouais. Many different Appellations are available, I won't confuse you with all the details. Beaujolais Nouveau is probably the most well known and also the most affordable and easy drinking. Depending on your dinner options, red wines do pair well with Turkey as do whites. Pick some light and earthy such as Pinot Noir, Rose or a light younger Red Blend such as Cotes du Rhone. Whites are great as well, a few of my faves are Chablis, Dry Riesling, Stainless steel fermented Chardonnay and of course Champagne (Cava or Prosecco as well). A "good" box wine is also very convenient! They make some good ones these days, I'd recommend purchasing them from a retail wine store as opposed to the Super Market.

We hope you all have a fantastic week and enjoy your family and friends (as hard as it may be at times) CHEERS!

Crabie Abbies is a great place to relax and have a nice drink.. I love the bar and the quiet atmosphere. The ladies behind the bar are awesome. Melissa is wonderful and very polite and great with customers. She is very nice lady.
